Day 1: June 21st, 2026

Welcome to Costa Rica!

Our adventure through Costa Rica started shortly after we met in the airport. With excitement and a warm introduction, we began our journey with a quick stop to buy some snacks. After we had our supplies, we headed to CPI Monteverde. Finally, when we arrived, the host families were welcoming us with joy. 

 

Day 2: June 22nd, 2026

Today was a very exciting day, as it was our first day of classes in CPI. We met our wonderful professors and went to the first class. Short after our class ended, we began our adventure through the magnificent place of Monteverde to know every local spot with our guide David. We walked through very interesting spots, such as the Monteverde sign, the Centro Comercial Monteverde and Santa Elena. 

 

 

Day 3: June 23rd, 2026

Today was a very exciting day! We had interesting classes with our professors and towards the end of the day, we were preparing ourselves to cook some delicious lunch. We diced some potatoes, cut some carrots, we also sliced some plaintain to cook with grounded meat and spices. Finally, we made some tasty gallos of grounded meat with plantain, and diced potatoes with carrot and more spices. It was a fantastic experience to get to know how to cook local costarrican food.

 

 

Day 4: June 24th, 2026

Today we made a lot of progress with our spanish learning path. After our insightful classes, we were thrilled by our hike at Santa Elena Reserve, where we could visualize the nature of Monteverde. With the help of our specialized guide, we could see many different types of plants, a lot of animals, such as birds, butterflies and some caterpilars. It was very interesting to know about the primary and secondary forest, the different spicies that Monteverde has, and the overall ecosystem of the reserve. 

 

    

 

Day 5: June 25th, 2026 & Day 6: June 26th, 2026

On our fifth and sixth day in Costa Rica, we had our very stimulating classes with our professors, where we learned more and more about the Spanish language and the costarrican culture. In our quick breaks, we enjoyed speaking in spanish with other students and our guide to practice the language and further increase the fluency and confidence. It's been a wonderful experience to learn a new language.

 

     

 

Day 7: June 27th, 2026

For today's activities, we went to Santa Elena to eat at Bar Restaurante Amigos and share some time in a local restaurant just before one of the most thrilling experience. On this day, we went to do ziplining. With the safety chat of our guide we began our excursion through the trees of Monteverde on more than ten cables and one of the longest in Costa Rica. The Tarzan Swing was a very wonderful experience full of adrenaline and laughs. 

 

 

Day 8: June 28th, 2026

After eight days of experiencing the costarrican culture, we went to learn more about the coffee made in Monteverde, the artisanal chocolate, and the famous caña de azúcar at El Trapiche. Starting with an informative speech on how the process of the best quality coffee is made to the technique to follow for harvesting caña de azúcar and make the sweet juice from it to also get to know the method on how the chocolate is made. We got very interested in every aspect of the informative tour. 

 

 

Day 10: June 30th, 2026

Today's class was as amazing as yesterday's where we learned more about spanish irregular verbs, and different tenses! Learning new things everyday is one of the best things from our experience in class. However, on this day, we were very excited because we learned different styles of latin dance in our dance class at CPI. We've learned how to dance bachata, salsa, merengue and the legendary swing criollo from Costa Rica.

 

 

Day 11: July 1st, 2026

On this day, we spent our time at CPI getting more progress on our journey to learn Spanish! We've made a lot of advancements in communicating in learning, because now, we can communicate more smoothly our ideas. With our learning process, we also had fun playing "Ping Pong", our matches were frenetic and full of excitement, in our free time and "Futbolín", the table soccer where the matches were intense and competitive after class. 

 

 

Day 12: July 2nd, 2026

As we approach our final day on Monteverde, we get more excited because today, we had a wonderful tour at LIFE Monteverde, where we learned more about coffee, conservation, and education. A very fascinating experience on how we learned about the coffee is division categories such as "Honey process", "Natural process", and "Washed process." At the end, we put together our ability to distinguish coffee on the tasting test! Totally an unforgettable experience! On our tour, we took a beautiful photo in front of the majestic core of the farm, the "Árbol de Guayabo" where we spent some time appreciating its magic.

 

 

Day 13: July 3rd, 2026

On this day, we continued building our language skills through new vocabulary, grammar, and engaging activities. Every lesson gives us another chance to practice, improve our confidence, and communicate more naturally in Spanish. Learning a language is an ongoing journey, and we're excited to keep making progress together while discovering more about the language and the costarrican culture it connect us to.

 

Day 14: July 4th, 2026

On today's adventure, we enjoyed a group trip to "El Tigre Waterfall." It was a wonderful opportunity to explore Costa Rica's breathtaking natural beauty, relax, and spend quality time together. Adventures like this remind us that learning abroad is about more than just language, it's also about experiencing the culture, making new friends, and creating unforgettable memories.

 

 

Day 15: July 5th, 2026

Today marked an exciting new chapter in our journey. After sharing one last breakfast with our host families in Monteverde and saying our goodbyes, we traveled to Heredia, enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way. Once we arrived in San Joaquín de Flores, we had time to explore the charming town, stroll through its local streets, and get our first impressions of the area before making our way to CPI. The day ended with a warm welcome from our new host families and a home-cooked dinner, giving us the opportunity to settle our new surroundings and begin another memorable part of our Costa Rican experience.

 

Day 16: July 6th, 2026

Today was a great balance of learning and exploring. We started the morning with breakfast at our host families' homes before heading to our first Spanish class, where we continued developing our language skills through interactive lessons and conversation. In the afternoon, we traveled by public bus to the city of Heredia, where we explored the lively Mercado Central and the town's central plaza while experiencing the local atmosphere. After spending time discovering the city and enjoying lunch, we returned home with our host families.

 

 

Day 17: July 7th, 2026 - Day 20: July 10th, 2026

Over the next few days, we settle into a rewarding routine that balanced language learning with time to explore on our own. Each morning began with breakfast with our host families before heading to Spanish class, where we continued strengthening our vocabulary, grammar, and conversation skills through engaging lessons. Afternoons were free to enjoy our lunch, discover more of the local area, relax, and practice the everyday Spanish in real life situations. Each day ended with dinner at our host families´ homes, giving us another opportunity to connect, share experiences, and continue learning through daily life.

 

      

 

Day 21: July 11th, 2026 & Day 22: July 12th, 2026

Over the weekend, we had free time to relax, explore at our own pace, and enjoy the local surroundings. It was a great opportunity to recharge, spend time with friends or host families, experience more of Costa Rica beyond the classroom. These moments allowed us to create our own memories while continuing to immerse ourselves in the culture and everyday life of the country.

 

Day 23: July 13th, 2026 - Day 26: July 16th, 2026

During days 23 through 26, we dedicated our time strengthening our Spanish skills through focused classroom sessions and meaningful practice. Each day brought new activities, conversations, and challenges that helped us expand our understanding of the language. These days of learning allowed us to continue growing as a group while making steady progress.

 

 

Day 27: July 17th, 2026

Friday was a meaningful day as we celebrated the progress we made throughout our Spanish learning experience. We continued with our final Spanish classes, where we practiced our skills and marked this achievement with a special graduation ceremony. The afternoon gave us time to enjoy lunch, organize our belongings, and prepare for the next part of our journey. We ended up reflecting on the memories, friendship, and experiences we created while learning and immersing ourselves in the Spanish language and Costarrican culture.

 

Day 28: July 18th, 2026

Saturday marked the end of our incredible journey as we prepared to say goodbye to Costa Rica. After spending our final moments with our host families, we traveled to the airport for our departure. It was a day filled with reflection as we looked back on the experiences we went through in our time exploring the Costarrican culture. Although the trip came to an end, the connections and lessons from this adventure will stay with us long after returning home.
